Finished the desk

Hi everyone,

just finished the desk. Got some other things to do during the past days, so this is only one new item after some time. But i really like it. A frosted glass table top combined with a base made of dark grey metal and light brown wooden stopers at the bottom.

Maybe, the final look of the office set becomes somewhat clearer now. Minimalistic, cool, functional but stylish :)
I'll have to fix the legs of the desk at the wall side, as they reach into the wall a little.

First shelf ingame :)

I just "simsed" my first object after some time of working only at my site. The shelf i posted yesterday now is ingame. Still needs some tuning related to textures, but positioning, size and functions seem ok.

I will make those folders a little darker, as the contrast is not high enough in my eyes right now.

And the white is not white enough :) But this may be caused by wrong lighting right now, so i have to research this a little. Seems i'm kind of "out of training".

But the shelf made it through SimPe into my game, so i'm quite confident, the next items will be no problem :)

In fact, the next objects will be variations of this shelf, as i did already post.

For those, who would like to have a sneak peak behind the scenes of this object. The UV-Map for this shelf looks like this (have a look at the right).

Here comes a short explanation, what you do see there. The UV-Map is the base for the texture, which is applied to a mesh. So, if I do create a new object, i have to "map" it from the 3D model to a 2D texture. Every part of the objects finds its place on this texture map (called UV map) and can be textured afterwards. I always try to map as accurate as possible, as if i do some kind of weird mapping or if parts are overlapping, the texture can not be easily applied or recolorers experience some real difficulties when working with my stuff.

The boards and the drawer are the large rectangular parts in the center, the little black parts on the frosted glass are in the right upper corner, the folder should be still obvious (same for the round thing on one of the boards).

You will surely never see such an UV map, if you just use downloads ingame, as those patterns are filled with textures for the ingame use of downloads. But maybe some of you wondered how this is done :)

New office set started

Hi everyone,

i just started a new office set. It will included mainly new furniture, but maybe there is some place for a new PC or some walls & floors.

The general look will be somewhat cool, as i plan to use frosted glass as well as pure white and black for the objects. I believe, this combination will look pretty good ingame. At least, i hope so ;)

Currently, there is just a "work in progress" picture of one shelf. This shelf will be varied two or three times, to give you some versions to choose from when you furnish your houses. Those variations will be restricted to the arrangement of boards, drawer and folders, but it should be enough to make it look quite good.
The pic on the left side shows the work in progress version of this shelf in my 3D program. So maybe you need some imagination :) The sides will be made of frosted glass, the drawer and the boards will be in pure white and the folders in some dark grey or black.
Ha, this has been my first real posting in this blog :) I hope, some of you do participate.

New blog started

Hi everyone,

this blog is kind of an experiment i would like to start.

In fact, i thought about a way to let YOU participate in what is created at Pimp my Sims.com. I do only furniture meshes and (maybe in future) some more skin meshes, as some of you might know.

With this blog, i would like to give YOU the opportunity to participate in the creation process of new stuff i do. You can give me feedback about the objects i mesh, propose additional items for new sets or even help with ideas for complete sets.

Please do not post any questions like "how do i download" or something like this. Please use the contact forms at Pimp my Sims.com or search the web/large forums for an answer.
